NEW YORK MILLS - Nicolette Darois
shot 44 Friday to edge teammate Lillith
Bulawa and Holland Patent's Rachel
Halwig by a stroke to win the Tri Valley
League Tournament at Twin Ponds
Golf & Country Club.

Darois and Bulawa also led the Black
Knights to the team title, with a three
person total of 140. Lauren Felice shot
51 to round out the total for RFA.

"After a back and forth season,
winning the TVL Championship as a
team and an individual player was a
pretty big accomplishment," Darois
said. "I played through some ups and
downs this season, but I couldn't ask to
play on a better team and always knew
no matter how big of a slump I was in,
they would come through. Our coach
said he had a lot of faith in us and we
went in and played to win."

Darois hopes the win can serve as a
springboard for a great finish to her
high school career and possibly lead
to more.

"After playing through some ups and
downs this season, taking the
championship sets a nice tone for
bigger tournaments," Darois said. "My
goal is to play college golf. I have a lot
of improvements to make to keep up a
competitive edge and building up
consistency and accuracy throughout
my round."

New Hartford, which was led by Marisa
Mauro's 46 (4th place) finished second
with a 154 total. Camden (164),
Holland Patent (165) and Oneida (178)
rounded out the top five.

Camden's Nora Tucker (49) placed
fifth. Oneida's Maddie Hale (51),
Camden's Cailin Conley (52), Notre
Dame's Emily Durr (54), Holland
Patent's Martha Redmond (55) and
Samantha Bossone of Proctor (55)
rounded out the top 10.

The Tri Valley League also handed out
a few awards Friday.

RFA's Lillith Bulawa earned Player of
the Year honors. Camden's Melissa
Kirby was named Most Improved
Player and Maryrose Mauro garnered
Rookie of the Year honors.

The All Tri Valley League Teams will
be announced in early June.
